The Baltic Dry Index is now down to around the levels we saw BEFORE the pandemic.
This is excellent news for those of us shipping goods around the world.
It’s a sigh of relief, but also a warning.
If the index gets too low, ocean carriers take notice and may reduce capacity by taking ships offline.
It may be cost-prohibitive to keep those lanes open and moving.
For now, it’s a welcome change and we hope the cost and rate of shipping remains steady and smooth.
